The first minute
Five seconds after the dial turns, the fabric changes. Not hot — warm, and even across the whole pad, with none of the cold patches a cheap element leaves behind.
Every detail, up close
Quilted fabric on the outside, a flexible heating grid you cannot feel underneath. The controller sits in your hand with a backlit display you can read in a dim room, and detaches in a second for the wash.
The evening after
Detach the controller in one movement, machine wash the rest, and it comes out as soft as it went in. Air dry it flat and it is ready for the same seat the next evening.

Good to know
Yes. Set the auto shut-off timer and overheat protection runs the whole time it is on.
Detach the controller, then machine wash on a gentle cycle. Air dry flat. Never wash with the controller attached.
Very little — a low-voltage element warms the pad, not the room, so it is typically a few cents per evening of use.
Across the lap, around the shoulders or behind the lower back — anywhere a blanket is too much and a room heater is too slow.
